Chris Jones

Chris Jones was an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and studio musician strongly associated with folk, blues, country-rock, acoustic rock, and audiophile singer-songwriter recordings. Stockfisch Records describes him as a gifted guitarist and songwriter whose collaboration with the label began in the early 1980s and lasted more than two decades.

His most important albums include No Looking Back, Moonstruck, Roadhouses & Automobiles, Smoke and Noise with Steve Baker, and Gotta Look Up. His best-known songs include “No Sanctuary Here,” “Roadhouses & Automobiles,” “Long After You’re Gone,” “Thank You (R.J. Reynolds),” “Darlin’ Cory,” and “The Last Fallen Leaf.” Deezer and Qobuz list these tracks and albums in his streaming discography.

He is known among audiophile listeners for his warm voice, expressive guitar playing, and exceptionally well-recorded Stockfisch productions. “No Sanctuary Here” in particular became a popular hi-fi demonstration track because of its deep vocals, strong rhythm, and spacious recording quality. Stockfisch notes that Jones died on September 13, 2005.
