Laura Fygi is a Dutch singer, born in 1955 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She is best known for vocal jazz, pop-jazz, bossa nova, Latin jazz, and easy listening. Apple Music lists her birth date as August 27, 1955, and identifies her genre as vocal music.
She first gained attention as a member of the Dutch pop/disco group Centerfold, then began a successful solo career in the early 1990s with a more jazz-oriented sound. Important albums include Introducing Laura Fygi, Bewitched, The Lady Wants to Know, Watch What Happens When Laura Fygi Meets Michel Legrand, The Latin Touch, At Ronnie Scott’s, Rendez Vous, Jazz Love, and Laura Goes East. Deezer lists many of these albums in her discography.
Well-known songs include “Dream a Little Dream of Me,” “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered,” “I Wish You Love,” “Corcovado,” “La Vie En Rose,” “The Lady Wants to Know,” and “Watch What Happens.” She is known for her elegant, warm vocal style and for bringing classic jazz standards, Latin songs, and romantic pop-jazz arrangements to an international audience.
