Meiko

Meiko, born Melissa McAllister Sheppard in 1982, is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist from Roberta, Georgia. Her music is usually described as indie pop, indie folk, adult alternative, and acoustic singer-songwriter music. She later became associated with the Los Angeles Hotel Café singer-songwriter scene and is now based in Europe.

She released her self-titled debut album Meiko in 2007, followed by important albums such as The Bright Side, Dear You, Moving Day, Playing Favorites, In Your Dreams, and Sorry I Missed You. Her best-known songs include “Leave the Lights On,” “Stuck on You,” “Boys with Girlfriends,” “Reasons to Love You,” “Be Mine,” and “Bad Things.” Apple Music lists “Leave the Lights On” and “Stuck on You” among her top songs, while Qobuz highlights her mix of indie pop and coffeehouse folk.

Meiko is known for her warm, intimate voice, acoustic-based songwriting, and for having her music used widely in television shows and media. Her official site notes that she has released multiple albums and EPs through MySpace/DGC, Concord Music Group, Universal Japan, and independently.
