Avishai Cohen

Avishai Cohen is an Israeli jazz bassist, singer, composer and bandleader, born in Kabri, Israel, on April 20, 1970. His music blends modern jazz with Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Latin, classical and world-music influences. His official biography says he helped bring the bass into the spotlight and pushed the boundaries of jazz, and notes that he received the Miles Davis Award at the Montreal Jazz Festival in 2023.

Important albums include Adama, Continuo, Gently Disturbed, Seven Seas, Aurora, From Darkness, 1970, Arvoles, Two Roses, Shifting Sands, Iroko, and Brightlight. His official discography also lists newer releases such as Studio Live Session and Eternal Child.
