Jacintha, full name Jacintha Abisheganaden, was born in 1957 in Singapore. She is a Singaporean jazz and bossa nova vocalist, actress, and theatre practitioner. MusicBrainz lists her as a Singaporean jazz singer, with the legal name Jacintha Abisheganaden, born 3 October 1957, and tagged as jazz and vocal jazz.
She is best known internationally for her high-quality audiophile jazz recordings on Groove Note Records. Important albums include Here’s to Ben: A Vocal Tribute to Ben Webster (1998), Autumn Leaves: The Songs of Johnny Mercer (1999), Lush Life (2001), Jacintha Is Her Name (2003), The Girl from Bossa Nova (2004), Jacintha Goes to Hollywood (2007), and Fire & Rain (2018).
Her well-known songs include “Danny Boy,” “Moon River,” “The Thrill Is Gone,” “Summertime,” “Here’s to Life,” “God Bless the Child,” and “Light My Fire.” Deezer lists several of these among her top tracks.
Jacintha is known for her warm, intimate vocal style, elegant phrasing, and audiophile-quality recordings, which made her especially popular among vocal-jazz and high-end audio listeners.
