Yosi Horikawa

Yosi Horikawa is a Japanese electronic musician, producer, and sound designer. His music is usually described as electronic, ambient, downtempo, experimental, and field-recording-based sound art. Apple Music describes him as a Japanese producer and sound artist who builds intricate rhythms from natural and everyday sounds, and lists his genre as Electronic.

He is especially known for turning field recordings and everyday objects into musical textures: natural sounds, water, bubbles, percussion-like found sounds, and spatial audio details often become part of his rhythm and atmosphere. Spatial Sound Institute describes him as a sound creator who blends field recordings into music, and notes that his debut EP Touch was released in 2009.

Important releases include Touch, Wandering EP, Vapor, Spaces, and Impulse. His best-known tracks include “Bubbles,” “Letter,” “Stars,” “Timbres,” “Vietnam,” “Crossing,” and newer tracks such as “Metal,” “Dawn,” and “Kozu Island.” Deezer highlights his use of field recordings and found sounds in a mix of hip-hop, jazz, ambient, and electronica, while Amazon Music lists Impulse as a 2025 release and shows songs from that album among his current highlights.

Horikawa is known among electronic-music listeners and audiophiles for his highly detailed sound design, wide stereo imaging, and headphone-friendly productions. His track “Bubbles” in particular is often used as a reference piece for testing imaging, depth, and spatial detail in audio systems.
