Jamo is a Danish loudspeaker brand known for combining Scandinavian design, home-friendly styling and accessible hi-fi sound. The brand is especially known for floorstanding speakers, bookshelf speakers, center speakers, subwoofers and home-cinema speaker packages.
Started: 1968
Founders: Preben Jacobsen and Julius Mortensen
Origin: Denmark — the name Jamo comes from JAcobsen and MOrtensen. Jamo’s official history says the company was established in Denmark in 1968.
Location / ownership
Jamo has Danish roots and became one of Europe’s most recognizable speaker brands. In the 2000s it became part of the Klipsch/Premium Audio Company group. More recently, the brand was sold in 2024 and is being relaunched under new ownership, with Cinemaster and Rayleigh Lab connected to the revival. Recent reports say new Jamo products are planned for presentation at the Vienna High End Show in June 2026.

Sound character
Jamo speakers are usually known for:
Clean and enjoyable sound
Modern Scandinavian design
Good value for money
Easy home-cinema integration
Pleasant bass and clear vocals
Stylish speakers that fit modern interiors
Jamo is generally more of an accessible lifestyle hi-fi and home-cinema speaker brand than an ultra-expensive high-end brand like Wilson Audio or Focal Utopia.
Overall rating
Overall brand rating: 4.2 / 5
Strengths: attractive Danish design, affordable speaker packages, good home-cinema options, easy to place in living rooms, strong brand history.
Weaknesses: some models are more lifestyle-focused than pure audiophile; older ranges vary in quality; the brand is currently in a transition/relaunch phase.
Best for: listeners who want stylish, affordable and enjoyable speakers for music, TV and home cinema without building a very expensive high-end system.
